Anime Frontier Powered By Crunchyroll is honored and thrilled to welcome anime fans, guests, and publishers this December.

We’re deeply excited to bring you all together, and we only want to celebrate in a safe and healthy way. To do this, we are following CDC guidelines as well as industry standard guidelines in place at many anime cons, comic cons, and other large events around the US.

These precautions are required for fans, guests, exhibitors, crew, staff, and everyone else who attends Anime Frontier to create a safe experience for all.

Please Note: We are constantly reviewing and reevaluating precautions and protocols as COVID-19 continues to change rapidly. We will post any further updates to this page, and we encourage you to revisit this page prior to traveling to Anime Frontier.

All Anime Frontier participants who are 12-years-old or older are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result to attend. Attendees who are vaccinated may show proof of COVID-19 vaccination instead of proof of a negative test. Vaccination is not required to attend the event.

Your negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination will be checked once upon your first arrival to Anime Frontier, after which you will be given a wristband confirming your negative test or vaccination status has been verified. Keep this wristband on all weekend, and show it at the entrance to our exhibition halls and panel rooms. This wristband must be shown to enter our exhibition halls and panel rooms.

Please show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of your arrival at Anime Frontier. If attending multiple days, only one test is required taken within 72 hours of your first day of entry.

Test types accepted include…

  • PCR Test
  • Rapid PCR Test
  • Rapid Antigen Test

Tests can be…

  • At a government-run testing facility
  • At a pharmacy like CVS
  • At-home tests from Amazon or other online retailers

When showing a negative test, accepted test results include…

  • A digital photo
  • A printed copy
  • A screenshot of an app
  • A screenshot of an email

If you are instead showing proof of vaccination, you must show proof you have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by the FDA or WHO.

Proof of vaccination accepted includes the following…

  • Physical vaccine cards
  • Photocopies of vaccine cards
  • Digital images on your smartphone
  • Apps storing your vaccination information

Please see here for guides to COVID test and vaccine sites in Texas…

Anime Frontier requires face coverings on all participants who are over the age of 5 while in Anime Frontier’s exhibition halls and panel rooms. Please read the CDC’s recommendations on the most effective types of face coverings.

Face coverings must cover both your nose and mouth. A mesh mask is not an acceptable face covering. A face shield is not a substitute for a mask, and can only be used in limited, approved, and appropriate circumstances.

Face coverings can be removed when eating and by panelists while socially distanced on stage, but face coverings must be worn at all other times in Anime Frontier’s exhibition halls and panel rooms.

Please Note: The Fort Worth Convention Center is a public building, and our face covering requirement does not extend into the building’s lobby and common hallways, which are also open to the general public.

We strongly encourage the continued use of face coverings in the convention center’s lobby and common hallways, but Anime Frontier cannot enforce face coverings outside our exhibition halls and panel rooms.

Attendees under 12-years-old can attend without proof of a negative COVID test. Attendees under 5-years-old can attend without a face covering.

We ask that all attendees self-evaluate prior to coming to Anime Frontier in order to protect others at the event. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has had COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to the event, please do not enter the convention center. Instead, please reach out to

Should Anime Frontier’s negative COVID test, proof of vaccination, and face covering requirements not be a match for you, please reach out to by October 24, 2021. We are happy to offer ticket rollovers and refunds, but requests must be made before our ticket mailing deadline. After October 24, we will not be able to accommodate requests for rollovers or refunds.

February 19, 2021 – CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Following the advice of industry, government, and health authorities, we are planning Anime Frontier as an in-person event this December. We do not want to dismiss the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to be a severe medical issue, and we wish to thank all the doctors, nurses, and scientists who have fought against it for a solid year. And it is because of this hard work and the growing success of vaccination programs that we believe the world will be a healthier place by winter.

We are hopeful to bring fans together again to celebrate our community at Anime Frontier and are working closely with the Fort Worth Convention Center and local officials to adhere to the most up-to-date safety technologies and recommendations, and as the state of COVID-19 continues to rapidly change, look for further important updates from us, as well as our full reopening plan in the lead up to this year’s show.

And as we look forward to a time where we can gather again, we – of course – want to state we will only hold the convention if we can safely. Again, though, we are seeing major advances in the fight against coronavirus, and we trust there will be further victories in the months ahead.

Until then, please do your part. Please stay safe, wear a mask, and get vaccinated when you can. And we hope to welcome you to Anime Frontier this year.

Hello, this is Peter Tatara, Founder and Show Director of Anime Frontier. I wanted to reach out to say howdy as Anime Frontier was originally supposed to launch today.

As I hope you really, really know, we postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus, so please make sure you don’t wander into the Fort Worth Convention Center this weekend as we’re not there.

More than that, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for all your continued energy and support. And thank you for uniting as a community in this difficult time. We’ve seen such amazing creativity and positivity from fans across Texas – and around the world – all finding new digital ways to come together into a family.

Keep healthy. Keep safe. And the entire Anime Frontier family is excited to see you May 14-16, 2021.

As a consequence of the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Anime Frontier, originally scheduled to take place on May 8-10, 2020, will now be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center on May 14-16, 2021.

The Anime Frontier Team will be in touch directly with all attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and partners in relation to this postponement and to answer any questions.

There will be further communication to these groups over the coming days and weeks as we aim to facilitate a smooth transition to the new dates for everyone involved.

Please be assured that we are continuing to closely monitor the latest public health and government advice with regard to COVID-19 (coronavirus) and are carefully adhering to their directions. Our absolute priority is to safeguard the health and welfare of all those involved in our events.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Hello, this is Peter Tatara, Founder and Show Director of Anime Frontier. I want to reach out today on the status of our inaugural event. After a tremendous number of conversations with the City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Convention Center, and anime publishers and partners spanning from Texas to Japan, we’ve jointly made the decision to postpone the launch of Anime Frontier this year. We will now celebrate the convention for the first time on May 14-16, 2021.

Our goal when creating Anime Frontier was to bring anime fans, publishers, and Japanese creators together in Texas like never before, and we’ve been absolutely amazed by the excitement from fans across Texas and honored by the support throughout the anime industry.

This goal remains. However, it’s just going to take a little longer.

After immense deliberation, we feel postponing until 2021 is the only right decision we can make, as we look to create an inviting, exciting, safe, and healthy celebration for Texas’s anime community – and there’s no way to achieve this right now without putting this same community at risk of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

We’re reaching out to all attendees and exhibitors with more details, but please know everyone will have the ability to move their tickets or booths to May 2021 or have them refunded. And if you booked in our hotel block, your reservation will be cancelled automatically without any charges.

We’ve been at work on Anime Frontier for the past year and were deeply excited to create something new together with you, and our pledge now is to take the next year to build an even bigger celebration of Japanese pop culture together with the creators and companies at the heart of the anime and manga worlds.

Lastly, a massive thank you to our friends at the Fort Worth Convention Center, Visit Fort Worth, Crunchyroll, Aniplex of America Inc, Animate, Bluefin, GKIDS, HIDIVE, Kodansha Comics, Lantis, Sentai Filmworks, SUNRISE, Vertical, Inc, and VIZ Media – and to everyone we’ve met bringing Anime Frontier to life.

Our most sincere wishes to you for a safe and healthy year. We’ll see y’all in May 2021!
